Hi pop pickers* and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle.
Here, my music device chooses ten* random tracks from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen. If you would like to listen and even sing along, then just click on the song title.
I hope you find something you like.
- Solstice by Matt Berry. Gorgeous atmospheric song from Matt’s 2013 long player Kill The Wolf.
- Long, Long, Long by The Beatles. Lovely George Harrison song from 1968’s ‘White album‘.
- Guns On The Roof by The Clash. Back to 1978 and a belter from Give ‘Em Enough Rope, still my favourite Clash album.
- Too Many Clues In This Room by Gordon Lightfoot. This has the same ‘feel’ as Lightfoot’s epic The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which isn’t surprising since it comes from the same album, 1976’s Summertime Dream.
- Timeworm by Kula Shaker. Back we go to 1999 and a smashing little joint from Peasants, Pigs and Astronauts.
- Hot Road Heart by John Fogerty and Brad Paisley. Decent cover of Fogerty’s classic Creedence tune, taken from his 2013 album of collaborations, Wrote A Song For Everyone.
- Daydream Believer by The Monkees. “What number is this, Chip?” “Seven-A!” All time classic from 1968’s The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees but was a hit single the year before.
- A Choir Of One by Thom Yorke. 2018 and it’s Thom’s album Suspiria. This is over 14 minutes long and I appreciate you might not like this quite as much as I do!
- Believe In Me by The Pierces. The talented and beautiful Pierce sisters from 2014’s Creation.
- Pay You Back With Interest by The Hollies. Forgotten I had this. From For Certain Because, released in 1966. Rather nice.
- At The Sign Of The Swinging Cymbal by Brian Fahey and his Orchestra. I wouldn’t normally include an 11th* track but when this started playing, how could I resist? It’s Pick of the Pops, released in 1960.
Well, that was fun (for me).
This week’s Desert Island Disc is Daydream Believer by the Monkees, just because.
Have a good week ’til next week.
