The Friday Music Shuffle (10.10.24)

by Rick Johansen

Yes, it’s back – the Friday Music Shuffle. What happens is this. My music device selects ten tracks from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen. To listen or even sing along, why not click on the track?

I hope you find something you like.

  1. Steppenwolf by Lindisfarne. My favourite Lindisfarne album is 1973’s Roll On. Ruby and this is one of the tracks.
  2. The Circle Game by Tom Rush. Beautiful title track of Tom’s 1968 album, written as it happens by Joni Mitchell.
  3. Can We by SWV. Some lush R&B from 1997.
  4. Candombe Cumbele by Santana Feat. Buika. This is great, from Santana’s 2019 album Africa Speaks.
  5. The Love Of Richard Nixon by Manic Street Preachers. A belter from 2004’s Lifeblood LP.
  6. Nothing’s Gonna Change My Mind by Stealer’s Wheel. 1973 again and a lovely song from the band’s Ferguslie Park album. Some of Gerry Rafferty’s finest music.
  7. Whole Lotta Rosie by AC/DC. Simply magnificent tune from the Bon Scott, and my favourite, version of the band. From 1977’s Let There Be Rock.
  8. Bemyself by Parcels. Well, this just gorgeous from 2018’s eponymously titled long player.
  9. Valleri by The Monkees. Back to 1968 for a very fine Monkees tune.
  10. Shore by Fleet Foxes. And this just stops me in my tracks. Title track of their 2020 album. Perfect.

My Desert Island Disc for this week was oh-so-close until track number 10 came on. So this week, it’s Shore by Fleet Foxes.

Have a good week till next week.
