I have spoken with Clive Hiscox regarding tomorrow’s unveiling of the bench and apple blossom tree in memory of Ben Hiscox on the Stoke Gifford village green at 12.00 noon.

Many people have been asking what sort of clothing would be appropriate for the ceremony to be conducted by Rev Simon Jones and Clive is of the view that some sort of clothing would be appropriate, rather than none at all. To put it another way, the family is far more interested in people coming along rather than what they wear.

As tomorrow is about Ben and the family, you will not be surprised to learn that the weather forecast is very good, so if you want to turn up in your three quarters and a colourful top that will be absolutely fine. Or you could wear what Ben himself would have worn to such an event, a pair of denim cut offs and an old shirt.

It’s going to be a very special day so please get along if you can. And afterwards, you can all raise a glass to Ben in the Beaufort Arms.

Come on: you know you want to!
